FINALIST OF THE WEEK
BY ADEOYE OLUFUNKE
Another exciting edition of interview session of our finalists, Fortis ’93. Our interviewee is the PANS UI President, Mr Azeez Yusuff also known as “Yulan”. We hope you enjoy it
PANS PRESS: Can we meet you sir?
Yulan: Azeez Yusuff Olanrewaju, a 500 level Student of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan
PANS PRESS: Do you have any hobbies and what are they?
Yulan: Listening to music, reading publications from journals, and surfing the net for global Opportunities
PANS PRESS: Are you involved in any business or extracurricular involvements?
Yulan: I really wish I was that business oriented. Sometimes I just envy entrepreneurs.
But as for extracurricular activities, I have inclined myself into extracurricular activities that would be a boost to my future after Pharmacy school.
My extracurricular involvements are research and grants writing, project monitoring and management, volunteering and lastly innovation and Design Thinking.
PANS PRESS: With your experience in PANS politics, why did you still contest for the post of the president and what was your drive?
Yulan: I contested because the seat was vacant, and the drive is simply because of the belief that a lot can still be done to make PANS UI great again.
PANS PRESS: What has been your coping strategy, becoming PANS president few weeks to the end of the tenure, especially as a finalist?
Yulan: It is a lot. God has been my coping mechanism and he’s leading.
PANS PRESS: Recently, the PANS week’s theme, “essence”, was unveiled, what is the reason behind the name or how did it come about?
Yulan: It was a whole lot of brainstorming, retrosynthesis, and clinical trials phases. But something was common amongst all the suggestion we had, which is to create lasting moments and joyous experiences. We go through a lot irrespective of the level you are in Pharmacy school and the essence of “ESSENCE” is to give Pharmacy Students a kind of pause from our normal way of life to unwind.
PANS PRESS: Interesting! so the essence of “essence” is to create lasting moments and joyous experiences. Many PANSites would anticipate that. Let us take a rewind back to your future pursuit as hinted earlier sir, where do you see yourself in the next ten years?
Yulan: Next ten years. I see myself as an individual who has gone through various certifications and trainings and is contributing immensely to the revitalization of the healthcare system in Nigeria and of course, with plenty money in my account
PANS PRESS: Are you single?
Yulan: Oh well. I am single
PANS PRESS: Have you had any best or worst moments in pharmacy school so far? Please share.
Yulan: None. It is a training, and we are supposed to learn from it
PANS PRESS: Finally, what are your parting words to PANSites, as a finalist?
Yulan: While in Pharmacy school, do well to engage yourself in other extracurriculars. Not just anything, but one that is inclined to whatever your passion is after Pharmacy school. And most importantly, enjoy yourself abeg.
PANS PRESS: Thank you Sir Yulan.
